Trading Card Lane

Fees

Listing is free. When you sell, Trading Card Lane takes 5% + 30p per order. No monthly fee, no fee on postage, and we pay the card processing.

The selling fee

  • 5% of the item price (for auctions, the final selling price).
  • 30p per order. If a buyer checks out several cards from your shop at once, that's one order and one 30p.
  • There's no minimum order value.
  • The same fee applies on the marketplace and in your own branded shop. Sales on your shop never pay a boost fee.

Worked examples

Single-card orders sold on the marketplace without a boost. Postage is extra and isn't charged a fee.

Postage

You set your own postage price in your shop settings, and you keep all of it. For example, a £10.00 card with £1.50 postage: the buyer pays £11.50, our fee is £0.80, and you receive £10.70.

Promoted listings (boost)

You can boost a listing so it can appear in the Sponsored slots above marketplace search results. A boost adds an extra percentage to the fee, charged only when the boosted listing sells through the marketplace. If nobody buys, you pay nothing; sales on your own shop are never charged a boost.

Boost levels: 2%, 3%, 5%, 8%, 10%, 15%.

Card processing

Buyers pay by card through Stripe. Trading Card Lane pays Stripe's processing fees out of its own fee, so there's nothing extra for you to pay. (For reference, a £11.50 checkout costs us about £0.37 in card fees.) Your Stripe payout account is free to set up.

Refunds and cancellations

  • The buyer always gets a full refund of what they paid for that order, including postage.
  • Our 5% fee is waived on refunded orders.
  • If the refund is down to the seller (you cancel the order, or a "not as described" dispute is upheld), we keep the 30p fixed fee. It's deducted from your next payout. Stripe doesn't return its own fees on refunds, so this covers part of that cost.
  • If you've already been paid for the order, the refunded amount is taken back from your Stripe balance or your next payout.

Agreed a sale in a DM? Send the buyer a sales link to some of your listings, at the price you agreed. The buyer pays on Trading Card Lane with buyer protection, and your stock updates everywhere.

  • The fee is 1% + Stripe's processing fee: 1% of the agreed item price (not postage), plus the fee Stripe actually charges for the payment. There's no fixed fee and no boost.
  • For example, a £10.00 card with £1.50 postage: the buyer pays £11.50, our fee is 10p, Stripe's fee is 37p for a standard UK card (up to 56p for an international card), and you receive £11.03 (or £10.84).
  • Refunds work as for other orders, except that on a refund you caused we keep Stripe's processing fee instead of the 30p. If we refund for any other reason, we absorb Stripe's fee.

When you get paid

  • We release the money for an order when the buyer confirms delivery, or automatically 10 days after you mark it as shipped.
  • Payouts are held while a dispute or card chargeback on the order is open.
  • If a card chargeback on your order is decided against us, we take back the money for that order (from the payout if it hasn't been sent, otherwise from your Stripe balance or your future payouts), keep the fixed or processing fee as on a refund you caused, and deduct Stripe's dispute fee (up to £20). If we win it, nothing changes.
  • Stripe then pays the money into your bank account on your Stripe payout schedule. You can see every payout in your dashboard.
